Man returns from Jail, Finds wife married

Samastipur (CNST), Apr.16: In what seemsto be a cruel twist of fate,a man returned home to his village in Bihar after languishing in a Pakistani jail for 35 years only to find that nothing is the same anymore. He even has no family left. Singheshwar Chaudhary has returned home only to find out that his wife, thinking him to be a dead man, married another manlong ago. Singheshwar, who worked in Amritsar, was picked up by Pakistani Rangers when he strayed into Pakistani territory by mistake. Suspected to be an Indianspy, he was tortured and sent to jail. In fact it was only a year ago that the Indian government discovered about him andbrought about his release. On February 16, he walked home to India as afree man. After 35 years in prison, when Singheshwar returned back home to freedom, the entire memories of his previous life were washed away. The lanes, homes and orchids had all changed. It's the beginning of another life for the man who lost his wife, his youth and his dreams because of undivided India's partition. Singheshwar's co-villagers of Laskar have given him a warm welcome, but he is a broken man. He spends his days looking at photos, playing with children and walking up and down the lanes of his village wondering why lifehas dealt him another blow in the hour of his freedom. -ibnlive.com
